Dr David Cockram has a broad knowledge of clinical psychology and is considered a skilled clinician. He has a gentle person-centred approach and in a collaborative and consultative manner tailors therapy to the needs of the individual, couple, or group. He enjoys working within a multidisciplinary collegial setting to provide better patient outcomes.

David is an experienced mental-health and wellbeing trainer particularly in the area of critical incident response and stress management where he has trained police, fire, and emergency services personnel, as well as other responders. Dr David Cockram is an Infantry combat veteran of the Vietnam War. Many years later, in a support/counselling role he served in a number of Australian international peace-operations and at overseas humanitarian disaster locations.

Background

David joined the Australian Army in 1969 at the age of 18, and as an infantry combat soldier completed a war-service tour in South Vietnam with 3RAR. He is a qualified paratrooper and diver. As a psychologist David has worked with the Australian Federal Police, the Western Australia Police, the Australian Defence Force, local and interstate emergency services organisations, and in private practice. He has been a Human Resources Manager for a large Australian Corporation. He has trained various government and private organisations in aspects of mental health including stress and trauma management, and critical incident response. He has been a university lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate psychology. David has served in Australian international peace operations and in disaster humanitarian relief operations. He is a Member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

Workplace mediation

David has a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. David is an approved mediator, and provides mediation to workplaces where disputes have occurred and resolution is needed.
